Wolfgang Bous invited our Drehkommando to provide musical accompaniment for the opening of his exhibition. And the Drehkommando was delighted to do so.
“Breakfast with Margarete, Maria, and Franka” is the title of his installation in the former Belgian customs house “Köpfchen”—on the Belgian side of the border crossing near Aachen. The installation refers to three generations of women from Wolfgang’s family who experienced different realities of this border at different times.
The Drehkommando did not refer in any way to the situation on site, the history, or the border in its musical contribution. In the EU, the borders are open. So too is the approach of the commanders. Everyone does what they do, and somehow everything fits together in the end.
It was a beautiful afternoon, that Sunday, September 7. A beautiful end to the summer. Here is a compilation of the best moments, to listen to again.
